First Information Reports were on Monday registered against Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad and his wife Rabri Devi for allegedly violating the model code of conduct by taking their security guards inside a booth of the Digha assembly constituency in Bihar to cast votes in the state assembly polls. The FIRs for violating the model code of conduct were registered by Digha Block Development Officer Ashok Kumar at the Patna Airport police station against Prasad and Rabri.

The family of computer graphics teacher Rizwanur Rahman described as a "setback" the Supreme Court's order not allowing murder charge to be framed against his industrialist father-in-law Ashok Kumar Todi. "It is a little setback for us that the Supreme Court has ordered that a fresh investigation with a murder charge being instituted by the CBI is not needed and the trial will be held for abetment to suicide," said Rukbanur Rahman.
